Tennessee Titans are increasing their offer price to trade up to the first pick in next month’s draft, as they’ve become impressed with quarterback prospect Cam Ward after his impressive pro day workout. Sources tell ESPN that Ward will participate in an additional private workout and throwing session with the team.
Ward, a 2024 Heisman Trophy finalist, had a standout performance at Miami’s pro day, rolling out and completing a pass while also sharing words with Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi and president of football operations Chad Brinker. The former Miami quarterback expressed confidence in his abilities, saying “I’m solidifying it today” after the workout.
Ward’s impressive college career has drawn attention from the Titans, who are among the top teams searching for a new franchise quarterback. After a disappointing first season under head coach Brian Callahan, the team gave up on their initial pick, Will Levis, and signed veteran Mason Rudolph. However, Rudolph has since moved on to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Titans now believe Ward is worth the investment, particularly after hearing about his experience working with quarterbacks coached by Hall of Famer Peyton Manning and Super Bowl-winning quarterback Matthew Stafford under Callahan. With a history of developing successful quarterbacks, Callahan’s coaching style may appeal to Ward, who has repeatedly stated he isn’t overly concerned with being the top pick.
