SNL Roasts Trump Admin Officials Over War Chat Scandal

Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update mocked nearly every Trump administration official involved in a scandal where attack plans were inadvertently shared with a journalist via a Signal group chat. National Security Adviser Mike Waltz added the publication’s editor-in-chief to the chat, while Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth detailed plans for an upcoming strike on Yemen.

The White House initially denied that sensitive information was shared, despite confirming the message chain’s authenticity. Waltz later took responsibility for the error but suggested the journalist had somehow gained access. However, national security experts dispute this claim, stating that no classified information was shared.

Co-anchor Colin Jost joked about Waltz’s poor texting skills and the types of emojis used in the chat, including a fist, the U.S. flag, and a fire emoji. He also compared Defense Secretary Hegseth’s denial to Forrest Gump.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem faced ridicule for visiting an El Salvador prison while filming a video for undocumented immigrants, with Che joking that she was trying to beat a world record on OnlyFans. Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance’s visit to Greenland was mocked, with Jost suggesting he was sending the country a “clever threat” by offering them his name.
