Min Woo Lee won his first PGA Tour title at the Texas Children’s Houston Open on Sunday, holding off Scottie Scheffler and Gary Woodland by one shot. Lee finished with a 3-under 67 to claim the tournament record and break the previous record by four shots.
Lee made a clutch putt on the 18th hole to seal his victory, after being in trouble with a wayward tee shot earlier in the round. Scheffler, who played well but ultimately fell short, closed with a 63. Woodland had a strong finish, shooting 4-under par for his last four holes.
Lee’s victory marked his first on the PGA Tour, and he credited his mental toughness for overcoming the challenges of the course. His sister Minjee Lee, also a professional golfer, was in attendance to support him. The win sets Lee up for future events, including the Masters.
Scheffler, who was making his final start before defending his Masters title, praised Lee’s performance, saying he put “as much pressure on [him] as I could have.” Woodland, who returned from brain surgery, also offered congratulations to Lee.
