Teen Mom stars Catelynn Lowell and her husband Tyler Baltierra have spoken out about why their daughter Carly’s adoptive parents, Brandon and Teresa Davis, made the decision to “block” them. The pair placed Carly for adoption in 2009, but recently cut off all communication with the family.
Catelynn revealed on an episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter that Brandon told their adoption counselor they needed to block her due to mental health anxiety. Brandon reportedly told the counselor they couldn’t send gifts or communicate with them anymore, and wanted a sincere apology.
Carly, now 15, had initially referred to Catelynn’s other three children as her sisters, which Teresa found bothersome. Tyler expressed concern that Carly should be addressed as her birth sister instead.
Catelynn’s main goal is to let Carly know they never stopped trying to have a relationship with her. She wants to bring awareness to the adoption process and its impact on families involved. The loss of communication has caused Catelynn “adoption PTSD,” but she is open with her children about it, using them as a support system.
Catelynn and Tyler’s openness aims to help others understand the complexities of adoption and the importance of maintaining relationships with adopted children.
