Eminem’s Mother, Debbie Nelson, Passes Away at 69

Debbie Nelson, Eminem’s mother and the subject of his music for years, has passed away at the age of 69. Nelson gave birth to Eminem in 1972 when she was just 17 years old. She raised him and his half-brother on her own after his father left the family.

Nelson had a complicated relationship with Eminem, who frequently criticized her in his music. Despite this, Nelson remained defiant, releasing a diss track and filing a $10 million defamation lawsuit against her son. However, she ultimately received only $25,000 from the lawsuit.

In recent years, there were signs that tensions between Nelson and Eminem had eased. In 2013, he apologized to her in song “Headlights,” stating that they remained estranged but still loved each other.

Nelson also expressed pride in Eminem’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, wishing him congratulations on Twitter. The news of Nelson’s passing comes as a shock to fans and the music world, who remember her as a constant figure in Eminem’s life.
