Patriots’ Draft Plan Takes Shape with Campbell in Left Tackle Role

The New England Patriots’ plan for the No. 4 pick is becoming clearer, according to head coach Mike Vrabel. He views Will Campbell as a left tackle, addressing the team’s most pressing need on the offensive line. Campbell’s short arms and wingspan have raised concerns, but Vrabel doesn’t see this as an issue, citing his performance in the SEC.

The Patriots are considering drafting Campbell unless one of the top prospects, such as edge rusher Abdul Carter or cornerback/receiver Travis Hunter, falls to them. If two quarterbacks are selected in the first three picks, a prospect like Hunter may be too good to pass up, despite Vrabel’s willingness for him to focus on just one position initially.

While trading back seems improbable at this point, Vrabel remains open to it. The team would fill their biggest need – left tackle – if they can’t find a trade partner or if neither Hunter nor Carter falls to them.
