Zack Snyder to Direct UFC Film “Brawler”

Zack Snyder has signed on to direct a new feature about a UFC fighter, teaming with Dana White’s UFC and His Excellency Turki Alashikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia.

The film is said to be an incredibly ambitious project that aims to show fans what it takes to become a UFC champion. Snyder will co-write and produce alongside Dana White and Alashikh, who has expressed his excitement about partnering with the filmmaker.

Snyder has stated that he’s drawn to the story of how fighters rise in the world of UFC, saying “Behind every great fighter is the story of how they got there.” The film will be produced by Stone Quarry, along with other producers including Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller.

This project comes as Snyder remains in development on an untitled feature at Netflix, focusing on the Los Angeles Police Department. He has previously directed films for the streamer, including “Army of the Dead” and the DC Comics duology “Rebel Moon.”

UFC has a rich history, having put on over 700 MMA events since its inception in 1993. The company recently teamed up with Amazon MGM to promote their remake of “Road House,” starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

Snyder is represented by CAA, Sloan, Offer Weber & Dern and ID PR, indicating he has the resources to fund this project.
