Texans LB Azeez Al-Shaair Suspended for 3 Games

Houston Texans outside linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair has had his three-game suspension upheld after an appeal hearing. The suspension stems from a hit on Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence in Sunday’s game, which caused Lawrence to go into the fencing position and required medical attention.

Lawrence was placed on injured reserve by the Jaguars on Wednesday. NFL vice president of football operations Jon Runyan criticized Al-Shaair, saying his lack of sportsmanship and respect for the game puts players’ health and safety at risk.

Al-Shaair had previously apologized for the hit on social media. This is not his first instance of questionable play, as he has also been involved in incidents involving Tom Brady and Roschon Johnson while playing for the San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears, respectively. He will miss Houston’s Week 15 game against Miami Dolphins and Week 16 game against Kansas City Chiefs before returning eligible for Week 18.
