SpaceX’s Fram2 mission has successfully launched four private astronauts into space, marking a major milestone in human spaceflight. The crew, led by crypto billionaire and Bitcoin mining company founder Chun Wang, embarked on an unprecedented journey to orbit the Earth from above its polar regions.
The Fram2 crew spent their first day in space conducting research activities, including studying how human cognition adapts to spaceflight within hours of launch. They also took the first X-rays done in space and conducted orbital tests for SpaceX’s Starlink network. Robotics researcher Rabea Rogge used an amateur radio on board called Fram2Ham to contact Berlin, while cinematographer Jannicke Mikkelsen captured stunning views of the Earth’s polar regions from the cupola window.
The mission, which launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, marks a significant step towards long-duration missions. The crew will spend approximately three to five days in orbit, with SpaceX sharing updates and stunning views of the Earth’s polar regions along the way. This historic mission is paving the way for new frontiers in space exploration.
The Fram2 crew consists of Chun Wang, Jannicke Mikkelsen, Eric Philips, and Rabea Rogge, all of whom are astronauts making history as they become the first to orbit the Earth from above its polar regions without human activity visible.
