Mets Dominate Blue Jays 10-1 Behind Strong Pitching and Alonso’s Home Run

The New York Mets got off to a strong start in their home opener against the Toronto Blue Jays, winning 10-1 behind a dominant performance from pitcher Tylor Megill and power-hitting Pete Alonso.

The Mets took an early lead with two runs courtesy of Alonso’s one-out, two-run home run in the first inning. The Blue Jays struggled to get anything going against Megill, who held them scoreless for three innings before giving up back-to-back walks in the sixth.

In a stunning turn of events, Francisco Lindor scored four times and Alonso added another home run, this time solo, in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Mets’ bats exploded in the final two innings, with Alonso’s second homer of the game scoring Soto for the fifth run, followed by a sacrifice fly that brought in Alonso to score his third.

Mets closer Max Kranick closed out the game, retiring all three Blue Jays hitters in the ninth. Tylor Megill received support from a strong performance from A.J. Minter and Jacob Barnes, who pitched scoreless innings in relief. The Mets’ win gave them their second victory of the season, solidifying their early lead.
