Trent Reznor Reactivates Nine Inch Nails for New Project

Nine Inch Nails is reactivating for a new project after a decade-long hiatus, with lead singer and songwriter Trent Reznor confirming that he’s ready to return to creating music for the band. The score for TRON: Ares, the third installment in the sci-fi film series, will mark Reznor’s seventh film score since the last NIN album emerged.

Reznor credits scoring for film with providing a new challenge and feeling vital, which he feels is missing from his work on popular music. He admits that initially considered scoring “terrifying” but learned from working with director David Fincher on The Social Network. Reznor notes that scoring requires a different approach, shifting the focus from arranging songs to interpreting scripts, visions, and scenes.

Reznor and Nine Inch Nails’ bandmate Atticus Ross have won numerous awards for their film work, including two Oscars, Baftas, Grammys, Golden Globe Awards, and Emmy Awards. With Reznor’s return to music with the band imminent, fans can expect a new project that combines his experience in scoring film with Nine Inch Nails’ signature sound.
