Trump Tariffs Could Make Apple iPhones $2,300+

US President Donald Trump’s new tariffs on Chinese imports could significantly increase iPhone prices, with some estimates suggesting a 43% price hike. This would bring the cheapest iPhone model from $799 to as much as $1,142, and the more expensive iPhone Pro Max from $1,599 to nearly $2,300.

Most iPhones are made in China, which was hit with a 54% tariff. Apple has secured exemptions for some products, but this time around, no exemptions have been granted. Analysts say that if Apple were to pass on the cost to consumers, it could lead to a significant increase in prices.

Shares of Apple closed down 9.3% on Thursday, the worst day since March 2020. While iPhone sales have been sluggish in recent months, some analysts believe that Apple may hold off on increasing prices until its new iPhone 17 model launches later this year.

The tariffs could also give South Korean company Samsung an edge in the market, as it faces lower tariffs than China. Counterpoint Research estimates that Apple would need to raise its prices by at least 30% to offset import duties, which could cost the company up to $40 billion.

Negotiations between Apple, China, and the White House are likely, but analysts warn that Trump’s tariffs could have a significant impact on Apple’s bottom line.
