The latest jobs report shows the private sector is experiencing a significant surge, adding 228,000 jobs in March – far exceeding economists’ expectations. This marks the second consecutive month of surpassing predictions, indicating a robust labor market.
Private employment grew by 209,000, with notable gains in retail trade (+23,700), transportation and warehousing (+22,900), and construction (+13,000). The number of full-time workers increased by 459,000, while labor force participation rose by 232,000.
Notably, Americans’ wages are rising, with nominal hourly wages increasing by nearly 4% over the past year. A stark contrast to the previous administration, under President Trump, private sector employment accounted for 58% of new jobs, down from 77% during the Biden era.
