The US Women’s National Team (USWNT) secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Brazil at SoFi Stadium on Saturday, thanks to goals from Trinity Rodman and Lindsey Heaps.

Trinity Rodman scored just five minutes into her return to the international stage, netting the first goal with a precise finish from outside the box. The forward, who had missed the Olympics due to a lingering back injury, was thrilled with the opportunity to get back on the field.

“It’s the perfect ball to the perfect finish,” Rodman said in an interview after the match. “I’m really happy about it.”

Lindsey Heaps scored the second goal from the penalty spot in the 66th minute, securing a dominant performance from the USWNT. The team’s captain praised her teammates’ hard work and dedication.

“It feels really good to be back on the field,” Rodman said, highlighting her renewed focus on balancing competitiveness with injury management. “I’m excited to progress back into high-level minutes while taking care of my body.”

Phallon Tullis-Joyce made history as the 28th goalkeeper in USWNT history to earn a cap during her international debut. Avery Patterson also debuted as a defender, entering the match in the 88th minute.

USWNT head coach Emma Hayes expressed her delight with Rodman’s performance and praised her teammate Phallon Tullis-Joyce for her speed and learning curve. The team looks forward to their upcoming match against Brazil on Tuesday in San Jose.
