US President Donald Trump has agreed with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s counterpart, Lam Dong, to discuss a potential tariffs deal. The two leaders have pledged to meet soon in Vietnam to finalize the agreement. Vietnam is seeking to avoid paying 46% tariffs on its exports to the US.
In a call, Trump described their meeting as “very productive.” The talks come amid rising tensions between the US and Vietnam over trade policies. Reuters reported that Lam Dong pledged to remove duties, asking the US to do the same.
