Saudi Arabia’s main stock index plummeted to a new 52-week low on Sunday, as losses in the capital goods, insurance, and consumer services sectors led to lower trading volumes. The Tadawul All Share fell by 6.78% to close at its lowest point.
Despite this downturn, some stocks managed to show gains. Nama Chemicals Co. rose 0.50%, while Abdullah Saad Mohammed Abo Moati Stationeries Co saw a slight decrease of 0.53%. Conversely, Taleem REIT Fund dropped by 0.60%.
The biggest losers in the session were Saudi RE Cooperative Reinsurance and Wafrah for Industry and Development Company SJSC, which both fell 10% or more. This was mirrored in Saudi Fisheries Co., which also declined by 10%. Other stocks saw smaller declines.
Commodity prices also suffered losses on Sunday. Crude oil for May delivery decreased by 7.41%, while Brent oil fell by 6.50%. Gold Futures contracts dropped by 2.76%.
Currency fluctuations were also evident, with the EUR/SAR ratio declining by 0.81% to close at 4.11.
