Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff revealed the company’s plans to pivot towards its new AI agent platform, Agentforce. Thousands of customers will attend workshops at the annual conference to learn how to use the technology, which enables users to build AI-powered agents for decision-making and automation. The goal is to have tens of thousands of customers using the product by January 2025.
Despite investor enthusiasm, Salesforce must prove its long-term success with Agentforce, a critical test in an increasingly competitive market dominated by AI products from major software companies like Microsoft, Google, SAP, and ServiceNow. Benioff reported that Salesforce has already secured 200 deals on Agentforce since its general availability on October 24.
The company’s confidence lies in its pipeline of future transactions and plans to hire 1,000-2,000 more salespeople. However, the initial impact of Agentforce on customer revenue remains uncertain, as it faces competition from other products that generate $37 billion in annual revenue. Benioff acknowledged that Agentforce is not a material contributor to the current quarter’s cRPO but is optimistic about demand for the product and its potential for growth.
A planned launch of Agentforce 2.0 on December 17 is expected to further boost sales efforts, with all new hires working to promote the technology.
