SpaceX’s private Fram2 mission has made a historic breakthrough by capturing the first human X-ray image in space, paying homage to the first X-ray ever taken 130 years ago. The crew of four passengers, funded by Maltese billionaire Chun Wang, performed a total of 22 research experiments during their three-and-a-half-day spaceflight. This included taking X-ray images of humans and electronics to test its use as a hardware diagnostics tool.
The crew successfully captured the first-ever X-ray in space on two consecutive days, with the @framonauts also contributing to brain mapping and continuous glucose monitor studies. The Fram2 mission culminated in the crew’s safe splashing down in the Pacific Ocean on April 4. Following their recovery, the astronauts are undergoing post-flight experiments at NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
This achievement marks a significant milestone in space exploration, demonstrating the potential of X-ray technology in microgravity environments. With this innovation, SpaceX further solidifies its position as a leader in space research and development.
