Magic: The Gathering’s upcoming collaboration with Square Enix’s Final Fantasy series has generated significant hype, and some of its cards have already surfaced online. Two months before the set’s official launch, images of MTG FF card content were posted on Reddit by a user who claimed to have received some product in Brazil earlier than expected.
The leaked images show the contents of the Starter Set, which includes two ready-to-play decks and instructions for new players. The cards feature iconic Final Fantasy characters, such as Cloud, Sephiroth, Freya, Steiner, Beatrix, Ultimecia, Xande, Seymour Flux, Barret Wallace, and G’raha Tia.
The leaked set content also includes familiar scenes from the Final Fantasy series, including a notable reference to the “suplex a train” meme. The Starter Set is just one of many products included in the Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy set, which will be released on June 13 at local game stores and big box retailers.
Wizards of the Coast has not commented on the leak, but the upcoming PAX East panel on May 10 promises to reveal more about the set’s content.
