Colorado Reports 2nd Measles Case in Denver Area

Colorado health officials have reported the second measles case in the Denver metropolitan area, according to a recent news article. This new case brings concerns about vaccination rates and the spread of the highly contagious disease.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has stated that the number of measles cases in the US has increased significantly over the past few years. In 2019, there were over 6,400 reported measles cases in the country, with several outbreaks occurring across various states.

Measles is a highly infectious disease caused by the measles virus, which can spread through airborne transmission and contact with infected individuals. Vaccination remains the most effective way to prevent the disease, and it’s recommended that children receive two doses of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine by age 16.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has issued guidance on how to identify and manage cases of measles, as well as provide resources for those who have been exposed to the virus.
