US Strikes Yemen, Claims Killings of Senior Houthi Leaders

The United States continued its airstrikes in Yemen, targeting areas controlled by the Houthi movement. On Monday night, reports emerged that Abdul Nasser Al-Kamali, a senior Houthi intelligence leader, was killed in one of the strikes. US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth made the announcement to Prime Minister Sudani on March 16, stating the goal was to prevent revenge attacks against Israel and US bases.

However, details about the airstrikes remain unclear. The White House reported that a top Houthi missile expert was killed earlier this month, but the US military has not confirmed it. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz stated that the initial strikes targeted “their head missileer,” but there is no independent confirmation from US officials.

A think tank, the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, identifies Abdul Khaliq Badruddin Al-Houthi as the de-facto commander of Strategic Missile Forces. Researcher Mohammed Albasha estimates that over 40 Houthi fighters have been killed in airstrikes so far this month, but no one senior to Al-Houthi has been identified as dead.
