The commander of the Fram2 space mission has posted a historic X-ray image taken in space, which may be the first-ever X-ray photo captured outside Earth’s atmosphere. Chun Wu shared the image on social media platform X, claiming it was taken by the crew on the second morning of their flight.
The post gained over 14.9 million views and serves as a nod to Wilhelm Roentgen’s groundbreaking discovery in 1895, when he first took an X-ray image of his wife Anna Bertha Ludwig’s hand. The Fram2 mission launched on March 31 and is scheduled to be in orbit for at least another day.
As part of their scientific experiments, the crew is using an ultraportable X-ray machine to take images of each other. With over 20 science experiments planned, the Fram2 mission is expected to provide valuable insights into space exploration and human health research.
