UConn Tops AP Poll After National Championship Win

UConn has secured its spot at No. 1 in The Associated Press Top 25 women’s basketball poll after defeating South Carolina 82-59 to win the national championship. This marks the team’s first time topping the rankings since the 2021 season and its 17th overall top ranking.

The Huskies received all 31 votes, while UCLA and Texas rounded out the top three spots. The AP has released a final poll after the NCAA title game for the second year in a row.

Several teams made significant jumps in the rankings, including Maryland, which rose to 12th after almost knocking off South Carolina in the Sweet 16. Ole Miss also saw an eight-place climb to 17th. The Southeastern Conference finished with eight ranked teams, while the ACC, Big Ten, and Big 12 each had five.
