Medicare Insurers to Receive $30 Billion Boost from Taxpayer Funding

The US government has approved a significant payment increase for health insurers selling Medicare Advantage plans. Starting in 2026, the rate of payments will rise by 5.1%, exceeding initial projections and the Biden administration’s proposal of 2.2%. This higher rate is due to updated federal data on traditional Medicare spending patterns, which were used to determine the amount to be paid for private plans.
