The season three finale of The White Lotus shattered viewership records, attracting 6.2 million cross-platform viewers in its 90-minute episode on Sunday. This marked a new high for the series, surpassing previous episodes and setting a record that surpassed even the show’s second season closer by 50 percent.
Compared to its predecessor, which drew 4.1 million viewers in December 2022, the finale more than tripled the first season finale’s viewership of 1.9 million. The episode’s massive success was not limited to TV viewing alone; it also generated a record-breaking 2.4 million night-one viewers across platforms.
With an average of 16 million viewers for the entire season, HBO is predicting continued growth as the show measures cross-platform performance for 90 days after its premiere. This trend has led to HBO ordering a fourth season of The White Lotus, with creator Mike White hinting at new ideas in development.
“We were supposed to start scouting [season four] in April,” White mentioned, but due to his prolonged absence from home, the project was delayed. Nevertheless, with pressure from HBO for a new installment, the gears are now turning on season four, setting stage for further exploration of the world created by The White Lotus.
