France Supports Egypt Amid Regional Instability

France has signed strategic partnership agreements with Egypt in areas of health, transport, and energy to help stabilize the country’s economy. French President Emmanuel Macron said this move would aid Egypt amidst regional volatility. The agreements include a €260 million ($284.5 million) loan package from France’s overseas aid development body for projects such as transportation, healthcare, water management, and energy.

Macron also expressed support for ceasefire talks in Gaza and the release of Israeli hostages. Additionally, the International Monetary Fund has approved $1.2 billion in disbursements to Egypt to help it tackle high inflation and foreign currency shortages.
