GE Appliance Park Workers Warned to Leave U.S. Due to Immigration Program End

The Trump administration is ending a Biden-era parole program that has left nearly 200 employees at the GE Appliance Park in Louisville with warning letters, telling them to depart the US by April 24 or face “adverse immigration consequences.” The program’s termination affects immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.

A union representative, Dino Driskell, described the move as “outrageous” and encouraged workers who received letters to seek legal counsel. The AFL-CIO also condemned the end of the visa program, stating that it has left families in distress with little time to prepare.

The program’s termination removes legal protections for 532,000 people from the four countries. Immigrants across Louisville are receiving similar warnings through a federal immigration services portal. GE Appliance Park workers are among those who received letters, despite not being aware of the change.

While some businesses contacted by The Courier Journal were unaware of the letters, the Kentucky chapter of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement expressed solidarity with the affected workers. They emphasized that immigrant workers play a vital role in the economy and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.
