Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning Set for Cannes Premiere

Tom Cruise and Paramount Pictures’ long-awaited eighth installment of the Mission: Impossible series, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. The film will play Out of Competition on May 14, with Cruise attending alongside director Christopher McQuarrie and cast members Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and others.

In the movie, Ethan Hunt (played by Tom Cruise) must face his most formidable foe yet: an AI known as the Entity. To defeat it, Hunt must gather a team to find the source code hidden within a sunken Russian submarine. The film’s plot is set in motion after the events of the previous installment.

Theatrical release in the US is scheduled for May 23. Cruise has previously made a splash at Cannes with “Top Gun: Maverick” three years ago and earlier with “Far and Away.” Before that, he was last seen at the festival in 1992.

As part of his visit to London before the Cannes event, Cruise will collect a BFI Fellowship and participate in a Q&A session. The film’s trailer was released on Monday.
