Cinematographer Darius Khondji is teasing upcoming film “Marty Supreme,” starring Timothée Chalamet as table tennis champion Marty Mauser. Set in the 1950s, the film will be a fast-paced, globetrotting adventure-comedy similar to “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “Catch Me If You Can.” The ensemble cast includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Fran Drescher, Tyler The Creator, and Kevin O’Leary.
Khondji revealed that Philippe Petit, the “Man on Wire,” will appear in a small role, alongside 139 other characters. The film’s production cost is estimated to be around $90M, making it A24’s most expensive film to date.
Director Josh Safdie expressed his admiration for Khondji, stating that the cinematographer brings an incredible energy to his films. “It’s continuous inspiration, intuition,” he said of Khondji’s working style. With a Christmas release scheduled, fans eagerly await the unique vision of “Marty Supreme.”
