Microsoft Windows Hello Fails on Some PCs After April 2025 Updates

Microsoft has confirmed that the recent April 2025 security updates may break Windows Hello facial recognition and PIN login for some users. The issue affects both client (Windows 11 24H2) and server (Windows Server 2025) platforms with the KB5055523 cumulative update installed.

The problem occurs when devices have specific security features, such as Dynamic Root of Trust for Measurement (DRTM) or System Guard Secure Launch, enabled before installing the update. Microsoft advises users to perform a Push button reset or Reset this PC from Settings > System > Recovery and selecting Keep my Files and Local install to resolve the issue.

Until a permanent fix is available, users can log in using their PIN by following the Set my PIN prompt on the logon screen, or re-enroll in Windows Hello Facial Recognition through Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
