Joe Flacco Signs One-Year Deal with Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns have agreed on a one-year contract worth $4 million with veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, according to his agent. This deal brings Flacco back to the team where he won the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year award in 2023. The contract can be worth up to $13 million with incentives.

Flacco had also spoken with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings before opting to join the Browns, a team that has been searching for quarterback help after using four passers last season. With Deshaun Watson rehabilitating an Achilles tendon injury, Flacco will compete with Kenny Pickett, who was recently traded to Cleveland.

The Browns held the second overall pick in the 2025 draft and have met with several top quarterback prospects. However, owner Jimmy Haslam stated that the team would not force a quarterback with its first selection. Flacco had an impressive stretch last season after being signed by the Browns, throwing for over 300 yards in four straight wins.

Flacco’s career has been marked by highs and lows, but he remains one of three quarterbacks with a winning record with the Browns since their return. The veteran quarterback, selected in the first round of the 2008 draft, has thrown for 45,697 yards and 257 touchdowns in his 17-year career.

The signing of Flacco marks an important move by the Browns as they look to strengthen their quarterback room. With Watson’s injury leaving a void, Flacco will provide the team with much-needed experience and leadership.
