Kimmel Roasts Trump’s Economic Blunders

Jimmy Kimmel used a visit from Donald Trump to the Dodgers game as a distraction from the struggling US economy, but he couldn’t resist taking aim at the President’s economic policies during his Monday night monologue.

The Dow was down and the S&P 500 lost over 10% of its value since Thursday, costing Americans billions in their stock portfolios and retirement funds. Kimmel joked that Trump doesn’t care about money, but is instead focused on “love” – although he gave it a sarcastic tone.

Trump recently wrote an open letter, urging Americans to be strong and stupid in the face of economic uncertainty. Kimmel poked fun at the nickname “Panican,” which Trump used to promote his new party idea, calling it non-viable. He also quipped that Trump’s economic policies have wiped out $11 trillion since inauguration day.

The comedian even referenced one of Trump’s most infamous suggestions – injecting bleach to get rid of Covid-19 – and jokingly said those were the “good ideas.” Kimmel’s monologue was a lighthearted take on the economic chaos, but still managed to land some serious zingers at Trump’s expense.
