Jared Isaacman’s Confirmation Hearing Marks Next Step in NASA Leadership Process

NASA Administrator-designate Jared Isaacman participated in his confirmation hearing on Wednesday, providing insight into the agency’s mission and priorities. The next step in the process is a committee vote to advance the nomination to the full Senate.

As part of NASA’s continued progress, several milestones were achieved this week. Jonny Kim arrived at the International Space Station on Monday, marking his first spaceflight. Kim will contribute to critical research across various disciplines during his eight-month stay aboard the station.

Bangladesh became the 54th nation to commit to the Artemis Accords in Dhaka, reflecting shared values and growing global momentum for peaceful space exploration. The agency also made progress toward next year’s Artemis II launch, lifting the launch vehicle stage adapter into position atop the SLS core stage at Kennedy Space Center.

NASA engineers began a flight test campaign focused on integrating air taxis into national airspace, using a Joby Aviation demonstrator aircraft to standardize flight test maneuvers and improve tools for collision avoidance. In addition, the agency is supporting the flight testing of a fourth entry, descent, and landing technology in just three months.

The NASA Disasters Response Coordination System was activated to support national partners in response to severe weather impacting over 10 states earlier this month. The agency also participated in the 40th Space Symposium, engaging with international partners and industry leaders on key areas shaping its future.

Leaders across the agency are actively reviewing proposals to streamline operations and increase decision-making speed. This effort includes exploring options for a future NASA Headquarters that aligns with President Trump’s guidance while supporting employees and strengthening the agency’s mission.
