Oklahoma Measles Outbreak Reaches 12 Cases Statewide

A measles outbreak in Oklahoma has reached 12 cases, with two new cases reported since last week. The Oklahoma State Department of Health identified nine confirmed cases and three potential cases, all showing symptoms consistent with the disease. The health department recently warned people of a potential exposure at an Aldi grocery store on Northwest Expressway after a person with a confirmed measles case visited the store while contagious.

All 12 cases have occurred in individuals who were not vaccinated against measles. Since there is no treatment for the disease, vaccination remains the only way to protect oneself. For more information on vaccination and prevention, visit here.
