Bungie has revealed the gameplay of its upcoming game Marathon for the first time, along with extended conversations about its features. The company also announced a release date of September 23, 2025, coinciding with Borderlands 4.
In addition to the full release date, Bungie has opened a Closed Alpha test starting on April 23 and running until May 4. To participate, head to any Discord channel and type “/alpha” in it. A private message will be sent to you with instructions on how to sign up online. You’ll receive an email from [email protected] with a unique link.
However, there are some concerns about the Closed Alpha test. The playtest is under a strict NDA, which means no streaming or sharing of gameplay footage. Additionally, having a priority code doesn’t guarantee access but rather increases your chances of getting in.
The Closed Alpha test will be region-locked to North and South America for PlayStation codes, with only limited functionality expected outside of the NA server. The test is also subject to an NDA, which may limit visibility.
While Bungie has provided a unique opportunity for fans to experience Marathon before its full release, some are questioning the lack of an open alpha or beta test closer to launch. Nevertheless, those interested in trying out the Closed Alpha can attempt their luck and see if they’ll be interested in the final game.
