Actor Nicky Katt, known for his roles in “Dazed and Confused,” “Boston Public,” and the hit film “Boiler Room,” has died at the age of 54. The cause of death was not disclosed.
Katt’s most notable role came in Richard Linklater’s 1993 movie “Dazed and Confused,” where he played a character who loved smoking weed and beating up people. He also starred alongside Julia Roberts, Catherine Keener, and Brad Pitt in Steven Soderbergh’s 2002 film “Full Frontal.”
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, director Steven Soderbergh praised Katt’s performance as “absolutely fearless.” Katt had chosen to take on a role that allowed him to humanize Adolf Hitler, making it humorous to portray him in a more relatable way.
Katt joined the cast of “Boston Public” for its first three seasons, playing an unconventional geology teacher with unorthodox methods. His death marks the end of an acting career spanning over two decades, including notable roles in “Sin City” and other films.
