Pope Francis made a rare public appearance without his traditional papal attire during a visit to St Peter’s Basilica on Thursday. The 88-year-old pontiff was seen wearing black trousers, a white long-sleeved shirt, and a striped blanket draped around his shoulders. He also had an oxygen tube under his nose as he briefly stopped to greet visitors while using a wheelchair. This marks one of the few times Pope Francis has been seen without his typical papal attire in public. The Pope was discharged from hospital five weeks ago after treatment for an undisclosed illness and is now recovering at the Vatican.
