US Healthcare REITs See Gains Amid Trump’s Tariff Pause Announcement

US healthcare Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) saw an uptick in shares following a surprise announcement from President Donald Trump about a 90-day pause on some of his new tariffs. The pause, effective immediately, is expected to have a positive impact on the sector.

Shares of several US healthcare REITs increased between 2% and 5%. Alexandria Real Estate Equities (ARE) rose 3.1% to $79.31, while Ventas (VTR) jumped 3.5% to $65.57. Healthpeak Properties (DOC) also saw significant gains of 4.5%, reaching $18.79.

Other healthcare REITs like Welltower (WELL) and Omega Healthcare Investors (OHI) experienced similar growth, with shares rising around 4%. In contrast, shares of Healthcare Realty Trust (HR) increased by 2.9% to $15.54.

The changes in stock performance come after a period of significant volatility, with some REITs experiencing losses over the past year. ARE was down 23.9%, VTR up 5.4%, while DOC had dropped 12.8%. WELL and OHI saw gains of 6.9% and 2.9%, respectively, but HR still faced losses of 12.9%.
