The Breakfast Club Cast Reunites After 40 Years at C2E2

The cast of John Hughes’s iconic 1985 film The Breakfast Club reunited for the first time in 40 years on April 12 at a C2E2 panel in Chicago. Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, Anthony Michael Hall, and Emilio Estevez were all present, sharing nostalgic memories and insights into their experiences making the classic coming-of-age film.

During the panel, Molly Ringwald expressed her emotions and gratitude for being reunited with her former costars. “I feel very emotional and moved to have us all together,” she said. The cast discussed how they met up recently at MegaCon Orlando in February, where they reminisced about their characters’ high school experiences.

The group shared their thoughts on what could have been next for their characters after graduation. Judd Nelson joked that he didn’t need a cardboard cutout anymore to represent his character, John Bender. Ally Sheedy mused that Allison Reynolds would have become a writer or professor, while Molly Ringwald thought Claire Standish might have tried her hand at being more experimental in her relationships.

Emilio Estevez explained why he was absent from their previous reunion and credited the C2E2 location with making this one special. The cast also discussed John Hughes’s passing and how they wouldn’t consider another film without his direction.

The reunited cast shared fond memories of working with John Hughes, who directed several iconic films in the 1980s.
