Coachella Brings Politics and Music Together

Coachella’s second day featured a diverse lineup of high-profile guests, including Hollywood stars, Washington D.C. politicians, and music icons. The festival kicked off Saturday at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

Senators Bernie Sanders and Maxwell Frost attended Clairo’s performance, praising her political activism. Earlier, Charli XCX, Troye Sivan, and Billie Eilish took the stage together, with audience members including Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet.

In a surprise twist, English pop star Lorde declared “Lorde summer 2025” after performing with Billie Eilish.

Weezer’s performance also drew attention, as they played 12 songs and covered Metallica’s hit song “Enter Sandman.” The band’s bassist was recently shot by police in Los Angeles, but frontman Rivers Cuomo acknowledged the emotion through his music.

T-Pain performed on the main stage, mixing mash-ups and covers. Billie Joe Armstrong adjusted the lyrics of Green Day’s set-opening “American Idiot” to express opposition to the MAGA agenda.

Coachella continues with a lineup that includes Travis Scott, Post Malone, and other artists until April 20. The festival celebrates music, art, and culture, showcasing its influence on popular culture.
