SpaceX Successfully Launches Starlink 12-17 Mission from Kennedy Space Center

SpaceX overcame a challenging launch streak with its successful deployment of the Starlink 12-17 mission from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on Saturday night. The mission marked the company’s 400th use of a flight-tested booster.

Liftoff occurred at 8:53 p.m. EDT, followed by a landing of the Falcon 9 first stage booster just over eight minutes later. This was the 10th time the B1083 booster has been used for a launch and its fourth reuse.

The Starlink 12-17 mission carried 21 satellites, including 13 that offer Direct to Cell capabilities. SpaceX has now launched over 550 DTC-enabled satellites since the service’s introduction. The company plans to expand this service to more devices, with partnerships in Japan and other countries already underway.

This launch marks the latest step in SpaceX’s efforts to provide global satellite internet coverage. The company has recently added Guyana and Jordan to its list of target markets, aiming to bring its services to millions of people worldwide.
