A former LSU football player, 24-year-old Kyren Lacy, died after a high-speed chase with police in Harris County on Saturday night. According to officials, Lacy discharged his gun into the ground during an argument with a family member before leading deputies on a pursuit that lasted several miles.
Police received a call about a disturbance at around 11:15 p.m., and when they arrived, Lacy was gone. His vehicle was later spotted, and after a short chase, it crashed near the 25900 block of Aldine Westfield.
Deputies attempted to arrest Lacy but found him with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The initial investigation suggests that Lacy shot himself during the pursuit before his vehicle crashed. A handgun was recovered from the scene, and an autopsy is planned by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The incident is still under investigation, including the circumstances surrounding Lacy’s death, which occurred during an attempted arrest.
