Actor Nicky Katt, known for his tough-guy roles in TV shows like “Boston Public” and films such as “Boiler Room” and “Dazed and Confused,” has died. He was 54.
Katt began his career as a child actor before specializing in unsympathetic characters. His performances were often praised by acclaimed directors, including Richard Linklater and Steven Soderbergh. Katt’s acting style was characterized by bold, fearless performances that pushed boundaries.
In interviews, Katt revealed his approach to the profession: he would gather quotes and anecdotes from famous actors like Robert De Niro. He advised against “name-dropping,” which he learned from De Niro himself.
Katt’s family and survivors have not released further information about his passing.
