Former LSU Receiver Kyren Lacy Dies in Apparent Suicide

Former LSU receiver Kyren Lacy, 24, died Saturday night in Houston after a car chase with police. According to authorities, Lacy had discharged a firearm during a verbal argument and fled in his vehicle, crashing and eventually leading to his death from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Lacy was facing criminal charges related to a fatal car accident in Louisiana in December, where he was accused of causing a crash that killed a 78-year-old man. He had turned himself in to authorities earlier this month and was released on $151,000 bail.

LSU issued a statement condemning Lacy’s death and offering condolences to his family and loved ones. Lacy’s father also spoke out on social media, urging parents to check on their children’s mental health from an early age.

Lacy’s passing has sparked concerns about the state of mental health in young athletes, particularly those pursuing professional sports careers. His case will now be reviewed by a grand jury to determine whether charges should be re-instated.
