HBO’s post-apocalyptic series “The Last of Us” has undergone significant cast changes, with Pedro Pascal being replaced by a new team. The revamped crew includes Isabela Merced as Dina, Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, and Gabriel Luna as Tommy Miller.
Dina, played by 23-year-old Isabela Merced, is a warrior who patrols the infected and becomes Ellie’s best friend. Merced brings her experience playing Dora in “Dora and the Lost City of Gold” to this role. She also stars as Hawkgirl in DC’s upcoming “Superman” movie.
Young Mazino, 33, takes on the lead role of Jesse, a patrol leader who gains respect from the community. He is a first-degree Taekwondo blackbelt and has experience with martial arts, including Muay Thai.
Kaitlyn Dever plays Abby, a pivotal Part 2 video game character who leads a devastated group of Firefly survivors to hunt down Joel for his violent act. Dever was initially cast as Ellie in the original film version but was later scrapped. She now sees playing Abby as her destiny.
Gabriel Luna reprises his role as Tommy Miller, Joel’s brother, with his on-screen family expanding to include a 5-year-old son, Benjamin. The Millers’ storyline has been a highlight of the series, and their child, Benji, has brought them closer together.
The new cast brings grit, glory, and “Beef” to “The Last of Us.” With its diverse lineup and intense performances, the show is poised for another season of drama and suspense.
