Aimee Lou Wood Apologized by ‘Saturday Night Live’

Aimee Lou Wood, star of the HBO series “The White Lotus,” said she received an apology from “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) after the show aired a parody skit that mocked her appearance. The skit, called “The White Potus,” spoofed President Trump and his administration.

Wood took to Instagram on Sunday to share behind-the-scenes clips from Mike White’s series and wrote: “I’ve had apologies from SNL.” She claimed she wasn’t crying over the skit as reported by the media. Instead, her emotional moment was unrelated to the show.

The parody skit featured Jon Hamm playing Robert Kennedy Jr. dressed in a costume similar to Walton Goggins’ character Rick from “The White Lotus.” The scene poked fun at Wood’s character, Chelsea, played by Sarah Sherman. In one part of the sketch, Sherman asked Rick about fluoride and wore a long brunette wig and oversized teeth.

Wood expressed her dissatisfaction with the skit, calling it “mean” and “unfunny.” She praised HBO for its kindness but criticized SNL for being mean-spirited.
