The United States has expressed support for a Caribbean Community (CARICOM) statement condemning any actions that could destabilize Haiti’s Transitional Presidential Council. The US is backing efforts by the Kenya-led Multinational Security Support Mission and CARICOM to help Haiti bring peace and stability to the country, which faces challenges from armed criminal gangs. The US is in consultation with regional governments to address the issue.
