Poirier Backs Pimblett Against Gamrot or Tsarukyan Next

UFC legend Dustin Poirier has given his endorsement for Paddy Pimblett’s next opponent. After Pimblett’s impressive win over Michael Chandler, Poirier believes the British lightweight contender deserves to face a top-tier fighter.

Pimblett’s victory made him a household name in the lightweight division. He called out several big names, including Justin Gaethje and Charles Oliveira, before their fights. Now, Poirier thinks Pimblett is ready for someone like Mateusz Gamrot or Arman Tsarukyan.

“I think he’s legit,” Poirier said. “He was a prospect, now he’s a contender. You have to take him seriously.” According to Poirier, Pimblett’s next fight should be against someone like Dan Hooker, with whom he thinks he would engage in an exciting stand-and-trade bout.

Poirier, who is set to retire later this year, believes that Chandler was not at his best during their fight and looked “exhausted” afterwards. He also pointed out that everyone’s body has different mileage and that Pimblett might be nearing the end of his journey in the sport.
