Microsoft’s Phil Spencer reaffirms Xbox support for Nintendo Switch 2, citing its unique reach and community growth opportunities.
Microsoft’s head of gaming Phil Spencer has confirmed that the company will continue to support the Nintendo Switch 2 platform, just as it did with the original Switch. This partnership is crucial for Xbox as it aims to expand its player base beyond its own platforms.
Spencer emphasized the importance of the Nintendo Switch 2 in reaching PC players and those who prefer different consoles. He believes this collaboration allows Xbox to grow its community, which is essential for investing in new games.
Despite the recent reveal of the Switch 2, Spencer expressed no urgency to announce Xbox’s next console lineup. Instead, he focused on building and nurturing his communities across various platforms.
Xbox has already begun releasing some of its popular titles on Nintendo platforms, including Pentiment and Grounded. When the Switch 2 officially launches on June 5, 2025, it will be interesting to see what new games Xbox has in store for the console.
