Cronos: The New Dawn Sci-Fi Horror Shooter Released This Year

Cronos: The New Dawn, a sci-fi horror shooter from Silent Hill 2 remakers Bloober Team, has released its new trailer. The game takes place in a world devastated by “The Change”, an event that has reduced Earth to a spectral asteroid field. Humanity survives in hexagonal glamping pods while ravaged cities are filled with creatures with tendrils and teeth.

Players take on the role of a “Traveller” working for the “Collective”, searching for portals to 1980s Poland where The Change is still affecting humanity. Using their unique “Harvester” gauntlet, they must extract “Essences” from people fated to die, allowing them to accompany them back to the future.

The game features a variety of combat options, including a handcannon, shotgun, and automatic rifle. Time-rewinding terrain puzzles are also present in the gameplay. It is unclear whether most of the game takes place in the future or if players will run and gun through 1980s Poland as well.

What sets Cronos apart is its exploration of Polish culture through different horror subgenres and temporal vantages. The previous games, Observer and The Medium, also explored Kraków’s apartment block setting. With its release this year, fans can now read more about the game on Steam.
